CASE-ing the Catty Week #7- Home Decor

Week 7 here and this week it is Home Decor (pages 94-101) for CASE-ing the Catty Challenge!

I am using an a project I did many months ago when I first saw it in the catalog. I loved the idea of being able to use my new ecutter to cut out MDS stuff. this took as long as a card would take me because the pillow is so simple. I was inspired

I got the Moments Ago Brush set and imported it into the cutting system. I than ironed it on a pillow I made from retired Stampin Up fabric.  How cute is it!

My Cricut Craft Room - Fall Card

Well it is another project for My Cricut Craft Room (MCCR) and today's theme is a Fall Card.

Fall is right around the corner for most but here in Texas on the Gulf Coast, it will be hot till at least the end of October.

I love fall so this was a great way to get in the mood for it.

I used the following cartridges to create my huge card:

Just Because Cards
Creative Cards
Designer's Challenge

Here is a closer look at the pumpkins and leaves that I cut out. I cut out the card base and than layered on the two pieces of paper than finally adding on the orange strip and the leaves and pumpkins. I used dimensionals to make the one pumpkin and leave pop on the card.

This card is huge and I was hoping to be able to stick it in a letter sized envelope though it might be to big for that. I might repurpose it at some point, it would also make a good note holder as well.

I used retired Stampin UP DSP which is one of my all time favorites. I don't often by more than one pack  of paper  but this was one of the few I did so I had enough to last awhile.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check in to MCCR  to see the other great projects from the DT.

Back to School-Yeah

"It's a school night" shot out of my mouth for the first time in twelve or so weeks. The kids groaned loudly but went to bed. Excited for what was ahead this coming school year. Heck I am excited for the coming school year.

The summer flew by in a flash. We got most of what we wanted to get done. Trips to the zoo and the water parks. Never made it to the beach but with all the seaweed  not to sure we would have wanted to go any ways. Still need to go to the children's museum but one weekend for sure is what we promised. We did hit every other museum though one day in June.

The girl is happy with her new class, and the boy meets his teacher on Tuesday ( he still is a week away from starting 4K- which means he is one year away from kinder). Wow the time is sure flying as we get older.

Our summer was filled with all sorts of things. Some wonderful like our road trip throughout the Midwest. The hubby tried but we just won't go up in the Gateway Arch but found the museum there awesome. Some hard things that we don't want to relive but made us realize that we are getting older.

First and foremost my kids will tell you they had a great summer. The swam like crazy with the youngest actually starting to swim more on his own with out a life vest- I needed a stiff drink after watching him because he rattled my nerves with his bravery.

As a parent, it is my job to insure the kids have a great life. I try to limit worry but I don't shy away for it. Worry is okay because it shows them we are human as well. It is our job as parents to help them grow in as many ways as possible.

As the school year starts, I sit here reflecting at how great my kids are. Everyone's kids are great! I see them becoming wonderful people and count the success of my marriage on how well the kids are doing. They are doing well and we are doing well even when we all drive each other up the wall.

So as I send the kids off again for another school year, I hope for the same things. Lots of growth, education, and of course lots of fun times. As a whole we learn so much more together. The kids are sponges who love to sit and watch Dad fix his car or help Mom with a sewing project. When It is all said and done, my hope is my kids remember as much as possible for the things we did for them in their childhood.

CASE-ing the Catty Week #6- Kids

I can not believe we are in Week 6 of our CASE-ing the Catty Challenges!

This week is all about the kids section from pages 82-93 (US).  I have to say the one thing that struck me first was the chore cards and the cute rainy day pail both located on page 83.

I went ahead and purchased the cute shore card digital set and replicated it using colors I like plus I made some additional things.

The little can holds chores and the ones with the clouds have the required chores like make beds.

I made the cards bigger and in colors more my taste.

Here is a chore chart. I need to laminate it and than they can use it as a dry eraser over and over again.

Today I made some fun Zoo masks.

How fun to do a Zoo theme for a Hop. So of course scratch my head and than realized I have been so wanting to make those adorable masks that I have been seeing has that I keep seeing.  So I went to work creating six different ones.

Here are all six of them together. How cute are they? I used the Masks- Animals cartridge. I cut all of my masks out of nice cardstock that should wear with the kids as they play with them. I am sure they will be many hours of fun with them. I figured my house is already a zoo so why not create some masks to go with it!

Isn't this one sly fox and a Purrfect kitty!

Who wants to wear the Owl or Hop as the bunny!

Isn't the Lion and Bear oh my so greaaaat!

Finally of course Miss O wanted to try out one of the masks and she will never ever open her eyes up when I take pictures so I have hundreds of her with eyes closed.

CASE-ing the Catty Challenge #5

Week 5 is upon us and well this week at CASE-ing the Catty  it is all about Babies and using inspiration from pages 72-81 (US).

So here I am once again so far from baby land. My youngest is 4 1/2 and starting his second year of preschool and my oldest is 8 and going into third grade. Actually many friends are out of the baby stage as well. I don't know many babies arriving now except for just a few.

So I decided to use inspiration from page 75 to create a MDS card to showcase a new baby. I dug through my photos and found one of my son who is about 6 weeks here and so chubby.

I used MDS and the stamp brush set of Little Additions.

I get a kick out of seeing how different my little baby here is turning into such a big boy.

CASE-ing the Catty Challenge #4

Here we are in our fourth week of CASE-ing the Catty Challenges and well this was a hard one for me. We are showcasing the Weddings Section which are on pages 60-71 (US) and well I haven't been to a wedding in ages and myself well we are about to celebrate 12 years of marriage so it has been a while.

I played around with some things and decided on using the little box on page 67 as inspiration. As I was digging around, I realized I had no little boxes so I used my ecutter to cut out this little box which is the perfect shape for a gift card.

I than wrapped the little boxes cover with Flowerpot DSP and wrapped some discontinued ribbon around it to hold it shut. I than stamped the little saying and birdie from the Hello Love Hostess set.

Here is a close  up of the birdie!

My Cricut Craft Room Design Team Member

Thanks for coming over from  My Cricut Craft Room  (MCCR).

I used the School House Card from the Wrap it Up Cartridge as my first project on MCCR.

I also complimented the school house with some basic triangles to accent the front and inside of the card. The paper is part of the Stampin Up Flashback DSP. What teacher won't love to get this adorable school house card!

So a little about myself, I have been a stay at home mom for over five years and of course am Mom to  Miss O (8) and Mr. L (4). Can not believe how fast my kids are growing up. We live outside Houston, Texas for the last 11 years. We moved her for my hubby's work and well decided to stay awhile.
I love to craft in all forms so I am usually always in the midst of some kind of project from paper crafting, to sewing and painting.

Thanks for taking a look and make sure to stop on by My Cricut Craft Room  to check out the rest of the Design Team projects as they post them over the next few weeks.

TTTC # 29- Using Fringe

Well it is fringe time over at the Technique Twist  and I decided to pull a project from my own archives that used the awesome fringe scissors you can purchase.

I had made these lovely flowers for my mother in law's birthday back in May.

To make these flowers you need to cut a piece of 12 inch by 4 inch piece of designer paper and fold in half the long way so you than have a 2inch by 12 inch piece. I glued the two loose ends to together using a tape runner and than on the outside of that I put down the super sticky red tape (leave the red on till you tool).

On the folded side of the paper, I took the fringe scissors and cut the to just the red line. I did that the whole 12 inches of paper. After that was done, I removed the red  from the tape and started to roll them on a small dowel rod. Once they were rolled, I covered them with some washi tape for a better hold. I fanned out the the flowers a bit and repeated until I had about six of them for the jar that I decorated.

Now you have flowers that will always be in bloom.

CASE-ing the Catty Challenge # 3

We are on our third week at CASE-ing the Catty Challenges and this week it is about the third section of course which is Birthdays (pages 42-59).

I am having so much fun with the challenges and MAYBE to much with this one because well I did more than one project this week, I did a suite of them.

I just adore the Maritime DSP as well as the new stamp set Sea Street which I have been using since I got it in the preorder. I have made tons of things using the set and am on my second DSP packet.

I was so inspired to do my own take with what I had on hand using the Sea Street/Maritime suite located on pages 42-43 of the US catalog.

I started off making my own version of the invitation using MDS. I used the tag punch and made it bigger, outlined it with Night of Navy and added in the preloaded invitation. I adhered it on to a piece of Maritime and punched holes to tie and bow and stamped the little crab on it.

Of course that wasn't enough for me so I decorated some mini donuts like in the
catalog and wrapped a piece of Maritime DSP around a mason jar for a fun drink. I even had a straw left over from the June Paper Pumpkin (which so far is my favorite).

Finally I used some Night of Navy card-stock and created a fun banner using the Banners framelites, cut out enough for Celebrate. I added in scraps of maritime DSP as well. I stamped the letters with a retired alphabet set and white craft ink (I realized how old my pad was when I was using it).

Please go check out the other projects on CASE-ing the Catty because you will be so inspired by them.

Thanks for stopping by!
