4th of July Cone Wreath

12:00 AM 0 Comments

I have so been wanting to make a rolled paper/cone wreath but wasn't unsure how to do it. I finally found a tutorial on Pinterest and it was so easy.

I cut 4x4 pieces of card stock and once I got rolling and hot gluing (burned my fingers a few times but it was worth it) the wreath came together so fast.

I than cut out the circles in the glitter paper using my Cricut and glued in the center.

I will so be making more of these and would love one in a news print.

Road Trip - Day 2

11:38 AM 0 Comments

So we started our day off with my hubby wandering around Muskogee and Tenkiller lake area. As a kid he would wander these areas when he visited his mother during the summers.

We stopped by the Cherokee nation and took some photos.

This is Tenkiller lake which my hubby remembers spending summers at.

We traveled the back roads through Oklahoma into Arkansas where we found a Littke Debbie outlet where we might have bought a few things.

As we entered Missouri to the road being craved out of the rocks.

So we might have told some one that the first Culver's we see we will stop for fried cheese curds. Of course as soon as she saw the sign, she squealed with delight the three miles to it.

Happy kid with her curds- she might Wisconsin after all!

So at some point you start snapping selfies!!

So we did a potty break at the World's Largest Gift Shop-

It was big and it had this was inside - kinda weird but interesting.

So our stop for the night was St. Louis. We had driven through tons of times and the last time we actually stayed was eleven years ago when we were first moving down to Houston.

So we checked into the motel and set the GPS to the Gateway Arch which was ten minutes away. 30 plus minutes later and a small tour of St. Louis because the GPs screwed up, we made it the Arch.

So 75% often household didn't want to actually go up in it so instead we sat outside, took some photos and than walked around the wonderful museum in the bottom before heading for ablate dinner. Got some neat shots of the arch at night.

Road Trip Day 1

11:56 AM 0 Comments

Every year we travel from Houston all the way up to Wisconsin to visit family. This year we decided to tKe a different route through Oklahoma because my hubby had to stop at his mother's.

We figured we needed to also be a tad tourist as we drove up. The first thing we saw was the Huge Sam Houston statue outside Huntsville.

Of course potty break at Buccees (have to say the new one five minutes from our house on the way to Galveston makes all the rest look poor).

As we were traveling through Dallas we decided to stop at Dealey Plaza, the site of Kennedy's assassination. The area was filled with people and tour guides. We parked and took about a 15 minute walk around to see the grassy knoll and the memorial.

After that we stopped for lunch and well the choice was easy -

After gorging on In-n-out we continued on our way to our first night stop in Mudkogee, OK.

Tomorrow we are off to St. Louis to see the arch and tour the area. Have always wanted to go even though I am some what scared to actually go up.

Ahoy SU Chalkboard Banner

5:56 PM 3 Comments

Okay I finally had a moment to play with the new chalkboard banner set in the new Stampin Up catalog. I wanted it the minute I saw it but when it came, I was like okay what do I make.

So I wanted a banner that was nautical but also to finish out summer with. I used my cricut and already imported Sea Street octupus and lobster to cut out. I just used cricuts anchor which looks so much like the sea street anchor already.

It is so darn cute and I could see doing a ton with it because you can change it out easily!

4th of July Page

So I dressed the kids up in their 4th attire and took some photos right in our front yard. They actually did what I asked and I got some great shots of them. I also framed the picture of the two of them in a rustic frame I picked up from the store.

Kool Aid Cookies

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I baked and that rarely happens but I was bored and it was just the boy and I at home (Miss O was off at camp) so I decided to try these cookies:

So I had all the ingredients because it is a basic sugar cookie recipe. I did not have the Hawaiian Punch packets but I did have Kool Aid so i used that instead.

I made it per the directions, separated it into two bowls and added the entire packet of Kool Aid in- It got red and purple after kneading it for about five minutes. I added touch of blue food coloring to the purple to darken it up some (I was hoping it would become bluer).

I love how they turned out!

They look so fun and vibrant. I did try to add some sprinkles to the one batch but it didn't really work out. I also squashed the balls down because they don't really spread out.

So I totally need to go get blue Kool aid and make these for the 4th of July!

They also taste the flavors that I put in so of course tropical punch and grape!

Hello Pillow

12:00 AM 0 Comments

I am loving my Cricut and finding all the things I can do it it.

I love pillows as you might have noticed and make lots (about as many as the bags I create).

I wanted to demonstrate to the Demo group I belong to, using the Brush Digital Stamps SU offers and cutting on the Cricut (or general e-cutter).

I uploaded the Hello from MDS into the Cricut software, sized it and well cut it.

The Pillow took five minutes to sew and than I ironed the hello on.

I would say this took as long to do as card so it was no major work for me.

I love the option of creating more than just paper items using SU products.

BTW I made two of them- one for the Demo Swap and One of course for me!

End of the Year Teacher Gifts

12:00 AM 0 Comments

I adore my daughter's teacher and this year we wanted to do something special for her along with the other teacher we are helping gout as room moms.

I made each of them a fun vinyl bag to carry school stuff in.

Than I took these awesome metal signs I had gotten and monogrammed each of them. They are magnetic so they can stick notes, pictures, etc on them.

I attached all of the gift cards we got onto them for a fun way to display them.

The Technique Twist

12:00 AM 0 Comments

I am so in to Nautical as of late so I have been making some fun cards using of course my Cricut explore and SU's Maritime DSP.

The challenge over at The Technique Twist is 3D Paper Piecing. I love the look of it but if you look at the tutorial- it takes hours to create. I wanted to the same look but at the fraction of the time so my twist on it is using the idea of dimension to the card to create the look.

I cut out the cute little crab and layered him up. I used dimensionals in between the red and black. I than popped the banner as well.

I love this little crab and figured he would lift someone out of thier crabby mood!!

Thanks

Lovely pillows!

12:04 PM 0 Comments

Today I made a decorated pillow using an iron on vinyl decal to share with you today.

I have to say I just love throw pillows and may have a slight problem (or very large if you are asking my hubby). I picked up some pillow shams from Pick Your Plum that came in a variety of colors and patterns. This pillow sham is a light grey/bluish and for some reason, I thought a giant camera needed to be ironed on it.

Using Cricut Design Studio, I picked my canvas as a pillow and using the Brooklyn Iron On cartridge, I sized the camera to fit on the pillow. I cut out the design and ironed it on per the iron on vinyl instructions.

I get all my vinyl from Expressions Vinyl and just iron it on with a regular iron set to the highest settings.

Though of course I couldn't stop at just one pillow so of course I made a second one which is actually a hostess gift for a 4th of July Party.

This is a pillow I did with a giant Wisconsin on it and I placed the heart close to wear our hostess has her cottage.  For this pillow I used Stampin Up's Brush Art digital set Fifty Nifty set. I just saved a jpeg from the My Digital Studio and imported into the Design Studio. Sized as needed and than cut it out.

Thanks for stopping by!

Vinyl Decal Drawstring Backpacks

12:00 AM 0 Comments

Oh my you don't know HOW MUCH I LOVE THESE BAGS I MADE THE KIDS!!

I saw this idea of course on Pinterest and was inspired. I have made these little backpacks before but these I just adore for so many reasons.

1. It is fabric I love from my scrap pile. I had this for so long and finally found a project for it.
2. Those decals are from the SU Sea Street Stamp set which is not digital but I made them digital.

I stamped, scanned, tweaked the sizing, and than stuck it into the Cricut program to cut.

I love the octopus so much and the kids have gotten so many compliments on them.

These bags are thier in the car bags to store items the want to take traveling and not lose.

I need to make me a chevron bag and decal that octopus on for me. I love him!!!

Fun Birthday Present

1:49 PM 0 Comments

My son had his little BFFs birthday a few weeks ago and I always love giving a basket full of stuff because kids love a variety of things. I love the giant 4 card which uses SU DSP and cut out the giant 4 with my cricut.

The bucket is just one where I cut out his friend's name and well stuck it on. How simple is that!

Canvas Bag

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I had this left over fabric and saw this cute inspiration bag on pinterest. I love how the directions said 3-5 hours to make. The only thing I did different from that was make it slightly smaller and knocked this out in about 45 minutes. It is the summer library bag for the kids.

Scallop Tag Punch Wreath

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I saw on Pinterest an awesome wreath done for the 4th of July using paper and it inspired me to create this wreath.

I used some very soft DSP and matching card stock colors for the flowers and punched all the ends using the new scallop punch in the Occasions catalog.

I love how it turned out awesome and I can not wait to do a 4th of July one of it when my new DSP comes in.

TTTC # 25- New and Innovative

12:00 AM 1 Comments
Stampin up released it's new catalog starting today and I just love some of the stuff they offered. Sea Street was instantly one of my favorites in the catalog and was so excited it was a preorder. I loved using the new DSP as well on this card plus the huge alphabet rotary stamp to custom sayings.

Over at the Technique Twist we have our challenge going on for new and innovative ideas!

End of the Year Party

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I have a group of friends who I adore and we started The Walking Kids book club where they have all been passing around a book to read and than we planned to watch the movie version.

Our first book we all read was "How to Eat Fried Worms" so we decided to have a fried worm party where we made fun worm food and the kids watched the movie.

I couldn't help myself and made this centerpiece for the party.

Here are pictures of our event!

Summer Break Starts

12:00 AM 0 Comments

Yesterday was the last day of school for my oldest and I wanted to set some kind of schedule up for the kids so we aren't sitting and watching television all day as well as get the all important reading in as well.

I saw a version of the schedule on Pinterest and modified it for our uses.

I than found the idea of a idea a day so we have those across the bottom.

We have Make it monday where we will make things and do science stuff.

The kids are excited to try new things.

I also created banner cards to write down/color about the book that the kids read. I thought we could do a banner throughout the summer showcasing the fun adventures they took plus it is a great way to track the books.

Thanks

Monogrammed Cups

12:00 AM 0 Comments

I pulled the Cricut out and decided I needed to vinyl monogram my cup which was a test for a future Pinterest Party project and than I moved on to the portable wine glasses I found for myself and two friends.

I love how they both turned out and it really makes me want the Cricut Explore. I am saving up for it so I hope one day it will find a home here.

I am so excited about the wine glasses because well to be honest my two friends and I had a small problem last Halloween with our drinks spilling out of our glasses. No judgement but it might have to do with the very strong ritas we had, so I got these to help us out.
