Mug Swap Fall 2014

12:00 AM 0 Comments

My friend Jessica from Organized  Design  told me about this great thing called a mug swap sponsored by  Meg from Megoonthego and Darby from Life with the Hawleys.  I thought what a fun idea to do and well of course I signed up right away. I love mugs and might have a slight mug problem to begin with!

So I got paired with Chelsea from Red Velvet Rooster  (make sure to check out her blog).

So I went to work and ventured into Marchall's/Homegoods to see what they had because I know they always have a ton of fun mugs.

Chelsea mentioned she liked navy and I found this fun mug there.

It seemed to fit her personality between what she told me and her blog. So I am sending it off to her.

In return Chelsea is sending me one as well so here is what she sent me.

Here is the adorable owl she sent me!

My Cricut Craft Room- Sewing

12:00 AM 1 Comments

So today on MCCR, I am doing something outside of the box. The theme for today is Sewing and I thought what could I do. I love to sew a bunch and well I decided to make a quilt. I wanted to showcase how you can make templates using the Cricut instead of buying those expensive ones from the quilt store.

I went in and used a basic hexagon shape from the My Quiet Book Cart.  It is pretty big like nearly ten inches across. I used some cardboard I had on hand to cut it out using the poster board setting.

So here is my pile of fat quarters I used from a stash of fabric I have had for ever. I was able to cut at least two hexagons using the template.

Once it was all together, it had the sticking out edges so I just trimmed them.

Here is the quilt top. It is lap size and I need to quilt and bind it.

Case-ing the Catty # 13- Christmas Cards

12:00 AM 0 Comments
It is about two months till Christmas time and of course if you are a paper crafter, you have been thinking about what kind of card you are going to make to send out.

This week's challenge over at CASE-ing the Catty is taking inspiration from the mini catalog to make Christmas Cards.

I was inspired by the card on page 16 of the Holiday catalog and just love the Holiday Home set which is also in Digital form. I used it for both Halloween and Christmas cards.

I also love to use MDS when I make my Xmas cards which gets me to blend both my traditional photo card of the kids as well as some of the fun stamps that SU has to offer.

This was last year's photo- I need to take the updated one.

Here is the back of the card.

Here is this year's Halloween version as well.

I just love how I can use MDS to make fun cards that can be printed out. I have done it the last few years and like it way better than the stock that many places has to offer.

Guest Blogger on Pam Cuts- Explore Review

12:00 AM 0 Comments

Thanks for coming over from Pam Cuts and my Explore Review. I hope you enjoyed my review over there. I have to say I just love my Cricut Explore and there are so many uses with it. This week, I have used it a ton for the upcoming school dance that I planned for PTA. The kids are super excited about that!

I had so much fun making this fun charger countdown plate using my Cricut. I wanted to tell you all more about how I made it.

I used a charger I purchased from the craft store (they are usually like 2 bucks this time of year)
I had in my stash already chalkboard contact paper which I cut to about to fit inside the center part of the charger. I suggest measuring it and than making you circle to cut about a 1/4 inch smaller.

I than used the basic Cricut Craft room font to cut out the letters in bright orange vinyl.

Finally I had in my stash some adorable ribbon front he dollar store which I tied in a big bow and hot glued on to the plate.

So isn't this a fun way to countdown to the holidays and super easy!

I am working on one for Thanksgiving and of course most likely one will be made for Christmas. These are super easy and quick to make for a present.

MCCR Blog Hop- Minnie, Mickey and Me

6:16 PM 7 Comments

Thank you so much for joining us on the MCCR Blog Hop featuring our favorite mouses.

I was really excited to do this hop because I had the PERFECT project for it. I have been on occasion helping out friends and well friends of friends in doing thier Mickey shirts for when they go on vacation.

So I had the opportunity to make these three adorable Minnie head shirts using the Mickey and Friends Cartridge.

Here are the backs of the shirts labeling each of the princesses.

The fronts and each girl got their own favorite color bow.

The youngest is a baby and so I did a onesie for her.

Closer look at the back

The pink bow is so cute but I also really like the purple bow.

These were super easy to make. Using my cutter, I sized the mickey head in Design studio for each shirt and than added the bow. I did the same for the back of the shirts as well. I love the templates they offer so I get good sizing for my projects.

I cut out per the settings for iron on vinyl and of course mirrored my imagine. I ironed them on using a trick I learned by placing a piece of cardboard covered in foil to help heat transfer.

Trick or Treat Bags

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I saw they had iron on glow in the dark vinyl and well I wanted to get it for the kids because we do trick or treat at night.

I made each of them one and put there names on it so there is no arguments as to whose candy is whose! Okay let's be honest, I pick out all the good things and than it goes into a big bowl for everyone.

I used a SU design for Miss O's Owl and a Bat for Mr. L

Love how they turned out!

My Cricut Craft Room- Anything Family

12:00 AM 0 Comments

Here we are showcasing anything family for today's MCCR post.

So we headed to a family reunion back in August/September (Labor Day) weekend and well I thought why not make shirts for us.

I used the Varsity Font that is in the Cricut Design Studio and I had my own SVG of the State of Texas and Arizona to represent where Team Benson traveled from.

I made shirts for my whole family as well as my in laws to wear at the reunion.

The Arizona ones I made for my in-laws

Case-ing the Catty # 12- Gift Boxes and Tags

12:00 AM 0 Comments
It is challenge # 12 already for Case-ing the Catty and I haves loved doing it. We are going bi-weekly now so make sure to come back in two weeks to see the Christmas Cards we are making inspired by the Holiday mini! I think I might be in the Christmas mood by than!

This week we are focusing on Gift Boxes and tags and did you see how much that is the holiday mini!

There are so many gifting ideas in the mini but the one that struck me was the takeout box on Page 10 (my order hasn't arrived yet of them) and well I did a Halloween twist on it. I LOVE halloween and well I think this would be a cute box for a gift card.

I found this great tutorial over on Stampin Pretty for a mini pizza box. I thought it was so cute and wanted to try it.

I also love the September Paper Pumpkin and used the stamps and bling to accent the box with the tags they had included to make in the kit. This was a super cute kit this month.

Fabric Pumpkins

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I fully admit to having a fabric problem on top of my paper craft problem. I of course saw these pumpkins on Pinterest and well dug through my stash and found some cute fabric I had (it is the left over from my cute apron I made awhile ago).

Super easy and really doesn't require a sewing machine but it did help.

I just stitched up the side and than hand stitched, pulled it tight and stuffed them. Than I sewed up the top, and attached the stem. Love them so lucy and they look so cute on my dining room table.

Halloween Wreath

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I love making wreaths and it is always the same- I loathe it at the start and than magic happens.

I actually made this as a Housewarming/slash bday gift for a friend. She can be a little witchy ;) so it fit her well.

I cut out the hat and witches shoes using the Cricut and than hot glued them on.
