Updated Menu Board

11:02 AM 0 Comments

Okay after I did my calendar, I wanted to do an update on my menu board. It still needs something but I don't know what. This one I cut vinyl letters out using my Cricut and stuck on. I can always remove them quite easy to update as needed. My last menu board only had week days on it and I was missing the weekend so I added that one on to the new one.

I so love this20x20 chalkboard frame I picked up from the craft store for like 18 bucks after I used my 40 percent off coupon.

The board is nice and big for everyone to see and it helps with a variety of food in the house.

Sewing a Banner

12:00 AM 0 Comments

Pinterest is EVIL okay not really but it gives me way to many ideas that I wish I had all the time in the world.  So I saw this fabric banner which is so easy and it takes like 5 minutes to make. I bought some bias tape and than using pinching shears cut out 8 triangles from my fabric stash. I than just sewed the triangles on to the bias tape. That is so easy.

I than decided it needed something and made my ribbon rosettes which also take no time, hot glued them on and there you go.

I made it green to work with both St. Patty's Day as well as Easter. Though most likely it will stay up for awhile. So easy to make 4th of July ones as well.

Stuff Bucket

6:22 AM 0 Comments
There is a new Cricut Explore coming out and I really would like it but I need to use my current one more to justify upgrading to the new one so I have been playing with it a
lot over the last few weeks.

I purchased some vinyl and cut out the "STUFF" letters and stuck them on the dollar bucket I got from the dollar store. It sits on our stairs for all the stuff that needs to go up. I have been looking for the right size buckets for the kids for Easter and I plan on sticking their names on those as well.

Easter Shirts

10:58 AM 0 Comments

So my daughter says to me- another shirt!  Okay I might have taken it to far but all the shirts I made for them for Valentine's, St. Patty, Rodeo and now Easter still cost less than buying them each one for of the holidays.

This one was so easy. I just found an egg pattern, cut it out and well did my magic. For the boys I cracked the egg on the shirt.

Now the kids are Bunny ready!

Spring Flower Basket Wreath

I was stumped when asked to do another wreath class and well after some searching and than some ideas of my own, I decided on a burlap wrapped wreath and filling the bottom with both silk flowers and felt flowers which were super easy to make. I  than created the welcome to string across but it could totally be personalized.

Technique Twist 19 Challenge -Shaving Cream

12:00 AM 0 Comments

I wasn't 100 percent about the Shaving Cream technique we are featuring over at The Technique Twist challenge. First I dragged my feet on it and totally did this last minute which is so unlike me more because we have been super busy between cookie booths for Girl Scouts and it being Spring break here in Texas for the kids.

I also felt uninspired and  I find marbling such a dated technique within the crafting world so it was hard for me to get a spark for it.

I decided to do it in one color and go from there. Even though it was last minute, I played with it for over an hour of time often times listening to the kids bickering because they have spent way to much time together. I tried masking it with black paper and than went to pink which neither worked for me.

Than I remembered how much I love seeing the sun on Pinterest using the both of the freebies from Sale-A-Bration:  Banner Blast stamp set and Banner Bunch. Than it started to come together.

I changed out the pink for some matching yellow and than dug through my Paper Pumpkin sets to stamp the Take Note ad well it finally was created. My twist was using the shaving creamed appear to make it look like a cloudy sky.

Make sure to stop on by all of the great DT members blogs to check out their creations.

Thanks

St.Patty's Day Shirts

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I got so many complinements from Mr.  L's and Miss O's Valentine's day shirts that I thought why not make one for St. Patty's day as well.

I picked up the shirts for 2.5 and some St. Patty's fabric and just cut out a tie as well as some hearts to make a shamrock.

Again, I just ironed it on the fusible webbing and ironed on to the shirts. I did stitch around the outside of the tie this time (I also went back and did the Vday one as well).  My hubby also wanted one so I am made him a big tie shirt.

Lucky Banner

12:00 AM 1 Comments
This has to be one of the EASIEST and funniest banners I have done in awhile. I love how it looks for St. Patty's Day.

I found chalkboard cardstock and using my dies and stamps from SU, I created this super easy banner. I am planning on doing one in pastels for Easter.

Over at Pinque Peacock they are having a Banner challenge and how perfect is this banner for it.

GO Texan Shirts

12:00 AM 0 Comments

I just love the ease of these fun T-shirts for the kids. Today is the Texan?Western shirt for the Rodeo. I found a fun boot print that I traced and cut out. I than ironed it on using bandana fabric and the heat and bond. Finally I stitched around the edge to secure. I washed the girl's already and it washed up so nice.

Now the kids are ready for the Houston rodeo.

Weekly Calendar Update

12:00 AM 0 Comments

I really liked the family calendar wall  last May but everyone and I mean everyone would knock the frames off and because they were dollar store frames, they would break. I think I replaced at least three frames and after the boy knocked one off the other day, I decided I need to do something different.

The kids love having the calendar up there for the week so they know what is happening and where everyone is coming and going.

I picked up this large 20x20 framed chalkboard at the craft store and decided to decorate it up. I also picked up the small chipboard pieces that I used for the days of the week. I covered those with some fun paper I had on hand and used the chalkboard contact paper for the days of the week as well.

I than die cut out the banners on the top as well as punched out some circles and wrote  out the letters.

It turned out great and it is up hign now so there should be limited chance to it getting knocked off the wall now.

Oscar Party in 30 Minutes!

12:00 AM 0 Comments
So for some reason my family likes to dress up for the Oscars every year. Like tow or three years ago, I made an off hand comment about how we should dress up and my husband jumped on it so fast.

So for the last few years we all dress up in our fancy wear and watch the pre show and start of the awards in our best attire. Each year as the kids get older and know more of the movies, the debate gets heated for who is going to win.

This year I so wasn't in it. My husband asked and I think I grumbled something under my breath because I have been sick with a cold (I sounded like death for two days) and I am cookie Mom for the girls troop so between the money being due and cookie booths, I was tired, oh so very tired.

Than my husband asked again about just dressing up and I said okay. The kids than convinced me that we needed to throw a party and they caught me in that moment where I said yes and than I decided to do it as quick as possible.

I decided to make some red velvet cupcakes and while they were baking, we went to Pinterest and found some adorable printables from We Heart Parties. I used some of those as well as a cutout of Oscar. I quickly created the cupcake toppers using MDS. The kids were a big help and here are the pics from our party.

My spread!

Shirley Temple's any one?

Always helps when you have a left over box mix of red velvet in the pantry

Gyros were already planned for dinner!

Of course you need popcorn

Miss O and her Oscar ballot

Mr. L and his cupcake (he was slightly annoyed at me)

The whole family!

Minion was dressed as well (kids did it)

Thanks for stopping by!

The Technique Twist Challenge 18- Faux Frame

12:00 AM 0 Comments

It is March and the first Saturday of the month which means it is is Technique Twist time and the challenge this week is Faux Frame. Wow are there a lot of ideas for faux frames. You could do faux wood, metal oh the endless possibilities.  I had tons of ideas running through my head that it as hard to focus on just one. I love having too many ideas problems rather than being just stumped.

Here is my creation:

Using My Digital Software from Stampin Up , I created a Mardi Gras themed page because of course on the Gulf Coast it is Mardi Gras time. Fat Tuesday is this coming Tuesday.

My twist on the Faux Frame is taking that large circular digital stamp and coloring it three ways and using it as a frame. Plus I used my other new favorite technique, digital chalk boarding!

So let the good times roll and thanks for stopping by!
