colorQ Challenge #191

3:26 PM 2 Comments
I am not the biggest fan of color challenges but for some reason I really like colorQ's inspirations. The colors were cool looking and even though I have a ton of actual card stock in all these colors, I was again drawn to doing something digital because I felt those colors lent well for it.

I created the card and just love how it would be a great one to send away for a just because card. I don't send enough of those to people.

Awesome Chicken

11:20 AM 0 Comments
There is this commercial I see a lot for Hellman's Mayo to make Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breasts. I always want to try it but because we are a house divided between mayo and Miracle Whip so I don't use mayo a lot, I never have that much on hand. For some reason when I was at the big box store I picked up a gallon of both Miracle Whip and Hellman's. Needless to say they plowed through what my hubby likes to call the good mayo even though I remind him it is considered salad dressing. I don't like the tanginess of it and prefer mayo.

So I had the huge jar of it in the fridge and thought I really need to try it. I had three HUGE chicken breasts which I used. I used the basic recipe that you can find here. It is also on the side of the jar. I used more breadcrumbs because I didn't really measure but just shook them on.

I baked them for about thirty minutes because they were huge pieces. I have to say the turned out better than I hoped for. My hubby liked it as well as one kid (the other one stopped counting when he demands nuggets and spaghetti nightly).

I will be making it again and highly suggest others to try it if you haven't done so. I like good and simple stuff which this was both.

TSOT Chalenge #120

This was a fun sketch layout to try with this weeks TSOT. At first I wanted to do something Patriotic but than I started flipping though my paper and this one struck me as a fun color scheme to try. I am not a big person on yellows and really bright so this is something different for me.

All products are Stampin Up!

Card Swap

12:00 AM 0 Comments
My stamp club I go to monthly did a Card Swap and I was sort of at a lost as to what I should create. I admit to trolling the internet for ideas and was inspired by lots of ideas. I knew I wanted to use the Paper Pumpkin stamp set again, so I used that as my base.

So cutting out 8 of each of everything, I created a fun and unique color combination inspired by the colors from the the This and That DSP.  Plus the chalkboard thing is so bog now that I also wanted to add in elements of that.

Unscripted Sketches #212

12:33 PM 2 Comments

For some reason I am totally into sketches these past few weeks. I am finding them great to spark my creativity which has been feeling low the last few weeks.

Last week I did a digital entry to the sketch challenge but this week I pulled out the card stock and stamps to create a card. I made a card and instantly hated it. So back to the drawing board to see what I could come up with.

As a paper artist I notice that sometimes you have to let the paper speak to you and see how it fits into the project. Today was just that in creating this card for the Unscripted Sketches  challenge (you can check out the inspiration sketch here).

I used some SU DSP and fun punches to create the majority of the card. I than dug through my stamps for a sentiment that would work. Low and behold on a larger floral stamp was the perfect words. I stamped that out and than ran it through the Sizzix to die cut the bitty banner for the bottom.

Enjoy this week's creation!

Crazy for Challenges 186

9:23 AM 0 Comments
I have been all about challenges the last few days because I have been wanting to explore some new ideas with both the cards and scrapbook pages.

I saw the challenge on Crazy 4 Challenges which inspired me and got me thinking about the other card I wanted to create from the Summer issue of CardMaker.

I used the sketch and the idea from Carmaker to make a fun 4th of July card which you know is right around the corner.

I used some scrap paper I found in my stash and Stampin Up basic grey paper as the base. I really like how it turned out.

This is a shot of the card standing up as well as laying down so the front can be seen head on.

colourQ Challenge #190

I admit to being more into sketch challenged but I thought why not try a color challenge from colourQ to see what I came up with. I used My Digital studio and added the challenge colors of midnight muse, baja breeze, more mustard, really rust and of course white. I was unsure what I could create using them and than it hit me to do a page from the Star Wars themed birthday party the kids went to at the start of May. I had to also go searching for some fun Jedi inspired lettering as well.

I think the page turned out great and is simple in its design but packs a bunch. The colors lend well to the Star Wars theme.

Unscripted Sketches Challenge # 211

11:26 AM 1 Comments
I love making cards but liked the idea that I could create a scrapbook page. I also decided to be different and create a digital page using the sketch. This picture for me works well with the layout and is of my son Mr. L when he recently went to a foam party. How much fun is that for a three year old.

Our Week Family Calendar

12:00 AM 0 Comments

I have been so wanting to do this forever but was unsure how it would look on the wall I was thinking. I am still not 100 percent about it because of the weird gap b the light switch. I might see what I can find to stick there.

Overall though I love the idea and it is a great place to write everything that is going on in our week. My husband know has a place to look to see what is going on with out having to ask every morning.

Plus the cost was 7 bucks to do it. I bought frames from the dollar store and already used paper I had on hand. I also had the long frame as well. Can't go wrong with the price.

Also thanks to the kind words from the few who already have seen in working in the home.

Canvas Bag

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I really loved the fabric I used to make my giant floor pillows. I made these cute little pillows to coordinate with them. I love the owl fabric so much!

So as I was stuffing them, I was thinking what could I do with the left over fabric and I remembered the cute one I saw on Pinterest a few weeks ago and thought I bet I could make that real quick.

So I set to work and cut it out. I wanted to make cool handles on it so I made ones to go on the outside This fabric lent it self well with that way.

Putting it all together was similar as the giant pillow without having to shove all the stuffing in.

Here is the finished project and I thought it would be a cute grocery bag when I get a few things.
