A Little Crafting

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I am so very behind and honestly just sort of in a crafting funk. It happens a few times a year, usually when life is busy and if I get sick which at the time is both. I have had a cold for about two weeks. I thought I was over it but it came back and brought a cough with it. So I sound like death if I start coughing but it is getting better. So I decided to just stay in (I left only to get the kids from school) so that maybe I would get some rest and feel better. I did rest some but I also had cleaned the craft room the day before and organized my many projects. These were two that I wanted to do something with but I had no idea what to do with them and it finally hit me.

The pumpkin I got from Hobby Lobby and just painted orange with a green stem. using my trusty Cricut, I cut out the Trick or treat and applied. It looks so cute outside by my front door. I am sort of decorating mode for the fall.

Than I started working on the mason jar (debating about painting a Thanksgiving thing not he other side of it to make it two sided.)

I love having my stash of paints so I don't have to guess for colors. I added the HoHoHo in vinyl as well. I love how it turned out and can't wait to put it up for Christmas but I totally need to enjoy fall first.

Some of my Favorites- Lightbox

11:56 AM 0 Comments
I am obsessed with the Heidi Swapp Lightbox so much so that when I got a fifty percent off coupon, I bought a second one.

I just love the all the things you can do with it and all the accessories. I found a set of slides on the clearance rack for 40 cents the other day. I change it out all the time and I figured out on how to make my own slides for it.

I like that I can use it for all sorts of party decoration ideas and I think that it would make an awesome teachers gift ( funny thing is one of the kid's teachers had it on her wish list so I will grab it next time it is half off again for her).

It is a fun way to add that little something extra and I love that I follow Heidi on Facebook where she has a ton of ideas and gives sneak peeks of new products (two more sizes are coming out this fall).

Some of my favorite things- LuLaRoe

5:15 PM 0 Comments

So I need to blog more and I know I keep saying it but we have been super busy. Just finished the third week of school. Sports started for the kids. Hubby was at a conference in Vegas and I admit to being jealous- mega jealous. I also for some reason decided that I needed to redo our master bath (more on that in another post).

So life has been life. Though I wanted to share some of my favorite things over the next week of things I love. Lately it has become clothes again. I dropped 15lbs and have a goal of another 10 so I am wanting to freshen my look up. I guess the yoga pants are getting old.

So my first favorite thing this week is LuLaRoe. OMG have you seen these clothes. The patterns are wild, the leggings are like butter, and they look good on any body size. That is so nice!

So I went to my first pop up last December and was impressed. I didn't get any leggings but walked away with a Julia dress and Randy shirt. Than I didn't think much of it till like February when my friend was asking for people to host pop ups so I thought sure.

So my sweet friend dragged all her loot over, hung it up and a bunch of friends came over to shop. It was a blast and my daughter was in love with it instantly. She picked out matching leggings for us.

I also walked away with some new things and two free pieces which were both beautiful dresses. So since than, slowly more and more pieces have crept into my closet. I now own a few different tops, a skirt, dresses, and a bunch of leggings. Yes I am on the lookout for my unicorn prints. Over the summer it was the patriotic collection and this fall now has been either foxes or woodland creatures which I got.

I am also obsessed with the new Carly dress and may have just gotten my second one. Yes I may have a problem but it is so comfy and you look so nice to!

Here I am in some of my favs:

Fifth Grader!

9:00 AM 0 Comments

There might have been a few tears as we walked in Miss O to her last day first day of elementary school. It was just yesterday that my chubby cheeked girl with her purple backpack, walked in to kindergarten. I saw all those big kids and thought it will be a long time before she will be there and all of sudden her she is- ten years old and such an incredible person.

Her she is on her first day of Kindergarten. I left her room and barely made it out of the school where I started sobbing and I am not a huge crier. I fully admitted that I wanted her back right away and that was he longest day ever. The boy, my mother in law and I watched the clock until we could get her.

She skipped home that day loving every minute of it and for the most part has enjoyed school. Yes their has been ups and downs but as we approach this last year, we know that when it is all over, it will be missed deeply.

The growth you see in your child is amazing. They blossom like a flower and begin to show who they are becoming. She went from a shy kid to one who speaks her mind when she feels it. We aren't far from the teen years and I am not looking forward to it. She already is moody but that what being a tween is.

I still have years at the school with the boy who is starting First grade. I know that I will be just as teary eyed the day we take him to fifth grade but with him right now I am jumping for joy!

Back to School Again

11:14 AM 0 Comments
I didn't realize I took the whole summer off from blogging. Though honestly it would have been to hard. It was crazy here and the kids were gone for about half the summer and the half they were here were gone in a flash.

We stayed later in Wisconsin because the hubs had his 25 year high school reunion. We looked good and young in comparison to some. One even showed off their grand baby who wasn't much younger than our youngest.  That made me feel real old fast and I still have a few years to that mark.

So I had to do lots of things to get ready from afar and when we arrived back in town, a ton of boxes were sitting here waiting for me. THANK YOU PRIME! I bought stuff for their lunches, and to organize the fridge which is so nice now and you can see everything.

So the big project I worked on was updating our family command center. I had it spread out some and   the biggest issue was lunch stuff which seemed to live where ever the kids set it down last year which was mainly on the kitchen table. So I drafted a plan and bought the cutest console table which I haven't hear the end of it from my Mother who wanted the same one which she is still on the fence about (it changes daily if she does or doesn't want it).

So I took all the important things and consolidated. Added our big weekly calendar, a small monthly one, a cork board, chore chart and of course some fun decorations. The table top holds pens, and in the basket is our charging station for the massive amounts of phones and tablets we have here.

I got two metal bins for the shelf for the lunch kits, water bottles and anything else they might need. It will be the kids job to put thier stuff away there every day. I even created a new checklist for them to work from before they can have devices or television.

I really like how it turned out and it is just the right size and place in the house. It has helped my hubby even be more organized.

Summer Around the Corner!

8:28 AM 0 Comments
I said to my hubby the other morning- "I can not wait for summer to start."

He put down his tablet and asked "Why? Doesn't that mean the kids are with you ALL day?"

I replied "Yes it does mean that but we are all burned out. It is a constant fight every morning to get everyone up and ready"

So yes I am done. I have been in survival mode for a few weeks ago. I cheered last week when the Kinder teacher said no more reading logs! We are taking a break. I was furious when we got the long email about the 4th graders final project because it seems that my full parenting would have to continue, no more of this limping along but my awesome daughter, well she is on top of it. Plus the last few weeks she is actually liking school after a year where more tears were shed than all the other years combined. 4th grader girls are awful, just awful!

I want more days where we lay around in our pjs and watch movies. Kids came home yesterday afternoon drenched from the rain. Everyone instantly put pjs on and the little homework that needed to get done got done and than we just laid around. Kids watched a movie and it was a quiet night.

I love that because it seems we are always racing around. Tonight, I have plans plus the hubby has to take the girl to batting practice. The weekend is filled with a few things as well. But the end is near.  It feels never ending.

Yes I have given up on making lunches because I was told they didn't like them so either make them your self or buy. I do not care if it is all sweet things.

Showers have become more optional than I like because heck the pool is being played in most afternoons.

I have fun plans for the summer. I have been introducing them slowly to the kids so when summer does start, they understand expectations.

They have a fun tripped planned with their grandparents an doc course our month in WI where we plan on just relaxing and enjoying being around the family.

School is wonderful and come August, I know I will be counting the days to the start of school. They will have been on every single last nerve that I have but we will also have a summer with tons of memories. I want my kids to be kids because adulting is hard!

I want more days like this!

Wall Update

11:56 AM 0 Comments
Spring is in full bloom here in Texas and summer is creeping at its heels with the warm temps. We had enough rain for a month over the last two days and it is raining on and off today. I love spring and I am totally in love with some of my new decor things.

I am all about aqua/teal and accenting it all. I am also in love with American decor but with a twist.

I love my new Heidi Swapp Marquee sign. I was stalking it on Amazon which it was sold out and than it appeared at Hobby Lobby. Joann's had more stuff for it and I love that I can change out sayings. I also love my marquee letter and star.

My wreath got a new banner which was the cutout from my cute shadow box project below from adorable States paper. I am a sucker for anything state and travel related.

Finally my awesome decorated globe. My hubby laughed at me when I bought it at a garage sale and it did not look like this. After some coats of spray paint and the flowers, I love how it turned out.

Master Bedroom Makeover

1:09 PM 1 Comments

I honestly have to say I was beginning to really dislike my master bedroom. It is grey and well uninspiring for the most part. My blinds I believe were from when the first people who lived here. The were metal and pretty much falling apart. So for Christmas, I really wanted new ones which had to be ordered because of the weird sizes the windows are.

So I finally got around to ordering them and guess what someone mismeasured them so I had to reorder new ones. So once they came, I hung them all by myself. When I finished doing that, I of course really wanted new curtains which led to a trip to Target which lets be honest didn't end that well for the bank account.

So new curtains, bedding, some furniture and accessories (some found around my house) to complete the look. It looks like a whole new room and I love it!

I created a new gallery wall of the family because they are so important to why we are who we are. A fun new storage ottoman helps with extra blankets and a sitting place. I also created a slip cover for my rocker that was red.

Painted Owl

12:00 AM 0 Comments

The girl and I loved doing a Holiday painting class so of course I was inspired and found some adorable precut unpainted shapes. I have been wanting an owl for my front door and well I painted it n some fun colors for the cooler temps. It was my real first attempt at it and I know I will get better. I used vinyl for our name and some mesh ribbon I had around the house.

I am also working on a shamrock for St. Patty's Day.

2016 Here I come

10:23 AM 0 Comments
Let's be honest everyone has lofty dreams for the new year. I am no exception. 2014, I was set some great goals and meet them for the most part. For 2015 I honestly didn't get around to it because of my accident and it set a negative tone for the year, so this year I decided to once again make some goals for myself to help give me some guidance for the year.

First thing is that I have a memory journal that I plan on working on every month. I actually scheduled myself a few times each month to journal in it and I have some prompts to work with as well as goals I am working on each month.

My goals for the year are…

Take more photos

Journal monthly

Blog more

Be Healthier

Make more homemade gifts!

Be more forgiving of others and myself!
