Casing the Catty #15

12:00 AM 3 Comments

We are back after a break for the holidays and of course to brainstorm some creative ideas for the Casing the Catty Challenges.

I really missed doing the challenges over the last few weeks but honestly with the holidays, it was a well needed break plus we were traveling to California to see the famous Rose parade. 3200 miles roundtrip in 8 days- we were exhausted but had a blast.

This week's challenges a interesting one. I was a tad stumped at first because I wasn't finding my mojo of creativity quite yet. I had had my focus mainly on doing the little one's 5th Birthday party (make sure to check out the post of all the fun things I did for it.)

This week was to use inspiration from our new Sale-A-Bration Catalog. These are all the free items you will get for every 5o bucks you spend. There is so many fun things you get and I took the option to get the Blendabilities Pens to try out.

I was inspired from page 5 of the Sale-A-Bration catalog and the fun scrapbook page they featured using the DSP. I instead used some of the new stuff in the Occasions catalog.

I love how this sweet page came about using some of the awesome new stuff from the You Plus Me (138594) and Stacked with Love set (Page 5 in the Occasions).

How cute is the paper from the Stacked with Love DSP stack (137779) along with the Stacked with love Washi Tape (137789).

I also have throwing in a fun page I made using some of the awesome DSP from the now retired Holiday catalog. I found inspiration from Pinterest of course. Just a fun plus add-on!

Thanks for stopping by!

Road Trip 2014-15- Part 4

I really enjoyed the parade but it was so awesome to actually go have an up and close look at all the floats. The detail is amazing on them as well as the organic material usage. It is like a puzzle to figure tout what they used to cover a certain item on a float.

My favorite float was the Phoenix and the rest of the family was the hippo (she released balloons that looked like bubbles during the parade).

Batman Birthday

1:00 PM 0 Comments
My son has never had an actual birthday party. He has had family ones and last year Grandma and Grandpa were in town for it but usually because it falls so close to Christmas, he does not get anything big or special. So he is turing 5 and I promised him a birthday party, so I invited friends and his whole class- I think it was like 22 kids and  I knew not everyone would come but I planned for 24 kids. Yeah I know CRAZY but I also know to plan and make it easy. I had ten kids show up which was a perfect amount.

The Boy is OBSESSED with Batman. I think he talks about Batman at least once a day and tells me all sorts of facts. The Batman thing has grown over the year and so when we decided to pick a theme of course Batman was top of the list (I think at one point he wanted a Minecraft/Batman Mashup but we settled on just Batman).

I wanted to make the party fun, and easy for a variety of reasons. It the midst of all the planning we had Christmas, New Years and a  week long vacation so I went a ahead and worked early to get the majority of the stuff ready.

Each kid is getting either a Batman or Robin mask plus a coordinating cape to be super in. I also created a fun photo booth props of the Penguin, Two Face, Riddler, and the Joker. As I was showing my son them, he was right on with who each was- yep he is a fan.

I found black capes at the dollar store but could not find green ones for Robin. So I bought some fun green fabric and used the black capes as a template to make those.

I also of course made a birthday banner all using my Cricut. I do love that machine and it made work easy.

I purchased items from Oriental Traders that were superhero themed as well as the dollar store for plates and napkins.

I kept the meal simple with hot dogs, chips, cupcake cake and joker juice. He loved his cake!

We also played some fun games and we let the kids just have a fun playing. How often do you get a large play date at your house.

Finally we had a photo booth and had some fund with that!

Here is Mr. L opening some of his gifts.

Parade Day!

Another rumoring of getting up at 3:30 am in order to get us all ready to get breakfast prior to heading back on the bus for the the trip to Rose parade in Pasadena. We got down for Breakfast at 4:30 because we were warned they might run out and I did not want to have hungry kids at the parade. After Miss O nearly burned down the place with her croissant getting stuck (it happen to me the next day), we headed to the bus all bundled up because it was super cold- actually it was the coldest rose Parade on record.

My father in law did a great job gutting us to Pasadena and to where the bus was parked. After we sat for awhile because it was cold, we headed out of the bus to our seats which were somewhere on Colorado.  We finally found our seats and were those bleachers cold. I don't think my feet warmed up for a good hour after we got back on the bus.

The parade finally reached us around 8:50 and it was exciting to see all of the bands, floats, and horses.

After the parade we warmed up on the bus and headed over to Long Beach where we took a harbor cruise, saw the Queen Mary as well as some sea lions.

Tomorrow will be up and close of the floats!
